Start chat

• To create a single chat (1:1) with a contact, click the (open chat) icon in the contact view or contact card.

• To create a group chat (1:n) with multiple contacts, click on the top right menu icon , select New chat and add new participants via .

• To start the individual or group chat, enter your message in the input window and send it by pressing the Enter key. Only now the participants will receive the information that they have been invited to a group chat and can accept the chat.

Send images and screenshots

Images and screenshots can also be sent in chat messages:

1. Click beside the entry line for chat messages.

2. Select Insert image or Insert screenshot.

   • Insert image

     • Select an image file (type JPG, PNG oder GIF).

   • Insert screenshot

     • A countdown appears for approx. 3 seconds, then the selection tool becomes active.

     • Use the selection tool to select the section for the screenshot.

   Only one image or screenshot can be inserted into a message.

   An image or screenshot can be removed prior to sending via an icon (x) at top right in the preview or via the context menu.

3. Optionally enter the text of the chat message.

4. Press Enter to send the message.

Tip

As an option, you can also insert image files directly in the message using Copy&Paste or Drag&Drop. Images received in the chat can also be copied in the context menu and pasted into a new chat message.

Inserted images and screenshots can be supplemented by comments or highlights prior to sending:

1. Click the image inserted in the message.

   • The editor opens in a separate window.

2. Select a tool by clicking or using the shortcut (letter):

3. Inserted elements (text field, highlight etc.) can be marked using the Selection tool (S) and then moved, changed or deleted.

4. Accept the changes to the image in the chat message and send it.

Hint

• Export the image optionally as a file or open it in an external application.

• The drawing area in the editor is limited to the area of the original image. Drawings or text extending beyond this will be cut off when the editor is closed.

• Images and screenshots are compressed for sending (JPG 80%). Image attachments may be scaled to max. 1280 pixels in height or width; screenshots retain their original resolution. The images in chat messages remain saved on the XPhone Connect Server for the storage period defined for chat and journal entries.

Images received in a chat message can be enlarged, zoomed and exported. In the context menu, you can copy the image to the clipboard in order to paste it to a new message or open it in an external application.

Extend a chat to a meeting

To create a meeting from a group chat, click (change chat to meeting) in the chat. You can then add more media channels (audio, screen sharing) to the meeting.

Hint

You will have to add other participants to an individual chat before you can change it into a meeting.
