Change service account
The most important function of the Service Manager is to change the user account under which the XPhone Connect Server service runs.
This account is required in the following contexts:
Authentication on the Microsoft SQL database (instead of a default SA account as usual), e.g. if a Microsoft Standard/Enterprise SQL server is used.
Windows logon with Kerberos.
Authentication on an Exchange server via the MAPI interface (for server-side calendar synchronization, remote voicemail retrieval, server-side Outlook contact folders connected to XPhone Connect Directory).
Automatic server detection of the clients.
In the Server Manager, click on the Change button next to the service account (usually LocalSystem). Enter the login data of your domain user (this user does not necessarily have to be the local administrator). Only if you also want to perform the Windows logon of the XPhone clients via Kerberos or if automatic server discovery via the domain is desired, you must tick the Register service in Active Directory checkbox and also authenticate yourself once with a domain administrator account.
You will see a log of the changes in the lower section of the window.
Hint
It is strongly recommended not to change the user account of the service with the Windows Service Manager (Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services), as authorisations to the management database of the XPhone Connect Server must be changed at the same time as the service account is changed.
