Telephony

This section describes the telephony settings you can make for a location.

Using this feature

Here you can set if users of the corresponding location/configuration group are permitted to use the telephony function. If the telephony function is required, activate Use this feature.

AnyDevice / Softphone

Note

Here you can find the description of the features of AnyDevice and Softphone

If Softphone mobile, Softphone Desktop or AnyDevice is to be available for this location / configuration group, activate the corresponding checkbox:

  • Use Softphone at the desktop client

  • Use Softphone in the mobile app

  • Use AnyDevice

Enable AnyDevice functionality for selected users using the AnyDevice / Softphone wizard. These phone numbers are available to users for AnyDevice use in their clients:

    • Mobile phone number

    • Home office number

    • Any phone numbers

Attention

For calls to employees that have set re-routing to a colleague. Activated re-routes:

  • A to C

  • B to C

  • D to C

Employee C activated AnyDevice with an external device incl. “Follow me”. If C calls user A, B or D (who re-route calls to C), a loop is created. Please note here that this loop to the external target C means that colleagues cannot be called by user C.

Hint

Prerequisite for softphone

The SIP connection between XPhone Call Controller and XPhone Connect Server must be activated on the corresponding SIP gateway and port releases must be observed:

Hint

Softphone represents an AnyDevice, so the configuration of AnyDevice / Softphone also affects the use of Softphone.

Quality assessment

If a user reports problems with voice quality during calls via Softphone, a test call can be triggered and recorded on the XPhone Connect Client side. If the problems only arise during real calls and not during the test call, they can also be recorded and assessed, whereby only the audio signal of the recording client is saved. Recording test calls and calls is described in the documentation of the XPhone Connect Client (see Settings > Audio management).

Network settings

Depending on your network settings, it may be necessary to use a TURN server for Softphone Mobile calls. For this, a STUN and TURN server must be configured under System settings > Telephony & Meetings > Network.

Select a TURN server for this location or configuration group.

Hint

Please refer to the infrastructure chapter in the system requirements: Media data streams and signaling .

Notifications

  • E-mail notification of missed calls

Conference call service

  • Use conference call service

If the conference service is to be available for this location/configuration group, activate checkbox Use conference service. Select the SIP trunk set previously, which is to be used for conferences.

  • Dial-in numbers

These numbers are entered in the invitation e-mail instead of the default numbers configured on the conference service. For this function to work, callers must be routed to the alternative dial-in number for the conference service in the telephone system.

Example

A company’s XPhone server is located in Munich, as is the main telephone system. Thus, the conference service can be reached via an 089 number. However, the invitation e-mails for XPhone meetings should contain a Hamburg number (040 …), since the company’s service department is in Hamburg. In the telephone system in Hamburg, the routing to the Munich telephone system must then be configured accordingly. Thus, an external caller who wants to dial into the meeting will be routed via the Hamburg PBX to the Munich PBX and will thus be connected to the meeting. This setting should only be done in special cases. Please note that there is no validity check for these phone numbers. Other entries than phone numbers in E.164 format are not supported. If several sip gateways are used, the dialing parameters must be adapted. We can only offer this customization via our Professional Service (subject to a charge).

Attention

This setting should only be made in special cases. Please note that no validity check is performed for these call numbers. Inputs other than call numbers in E.164 format are not supported. If several sip gateways are used, the dialing parameters must be adapted. We can only offer this customization via our Professional Service (subject to a charge).
