Dialling parameter

Dialing parameters define the phone numbers under which the PBXs or session boarder controllers managed by the system can be reached. The dialing parameters are used for both the CTI and the SIP connection via XCC. A dialing parameter is automatically created during the initial startup.

Creating / editing dialling parameters

Dialling parameter data

  • Name

Assign a unique name, so that you can select the dialling parameter data record when you assign PBXs or lines.

  • Country code

In Country code, enter the country code without the preceding zero, e.g. 49 for Germany, not 0049. The default value depends on the country of distribution.

  • Area code

Enter the Area code without the first 0, e.g. 89 instead of 089 for Munich.

  • Main phone number

In Main number, enter the phone number of your company without the extension numbers, e.g. 123456, not 123456-xxx.

  • Length of internal phone number

Enter the length of the extension numbers in Length of internal numbers. If you use extension numbers of different lengths within your telephone system, you should enter the number of digits in the longest extension number.

    Hint

    • If the length of the internal phone numbers you set is too short, the system will be unable to recognise numbers that are longer. If you set the value to 2, a call from extension 92 to extension 100 can not be identified as an internal call and is therefore executed as an external call.

    • If the length of internal numbers is too long, e.g. 6 digits, the system will not recognise external local phone numbers that have only six digits or less as external calls, and will treat calls to these numbers as internal calls.

  • Dial code for external line

Now set the Prefix for external line. If you do not pre-dial 0 or another number for external calls, you should delete this 0 from the Prefix for external line or replace the 0 with the number used by your system.

  • 2. Dial code for external line

If employees use alternative dialling codes, e.g. when they make personal calls, you should enter the corresponding code in 2. Prefix for external line. This option only works if the PBX has the corresponding configuration. If your company only uses one external line prefix, you should leave this field blank. For inbound calls, this information helps in recognising the external line prefix and showing the correct phone number in the XPhone Connect Client journals, for example.

  • Remove external line prefix from phone number display

You have the following options in Remove external line prefix from phone number display:

    • If you select the Inbound checkbox, the 0 is removed from the display. Correspondingly, an inbound call is displayed as e.g. 0898407980 instead of 00898407980.

    • If you select the Outbound checkbox, the 0 is removed from the display. Correspondingly, an outbound call is displayed as e.g. 0898407980 instead of 00898407980.

In the Create new dialling parameter dialogue, click on Save to save all settings or changes. If you click Cancel, you will leave the setting dialogue and your changes will not be saved.

You can test and change the different dialling parameter settings with the Special configuration dialling parameters tool. You can find this tool centrally in the XPhone Connect Server Manager.

Advanced settings

Hint

Adapting dialling parameters can possibly be very complex and therefore should only be done together with the C4B Professional Service.

Advanced settings are optional and only required in certain cases. If desired or required by your company structure, you can use Add to specify the following additional parameters.

Name

Description

Value

TieLineCodes

Codes for external networks that do not require a dial code. Use commas to separate multiple codes.

MulapPrefix

Prefixes for members of MuLAp groups. Use commas to separate multiple prefixes.

DefaultPhoneToDisplayFmt

Default format displayed for phone numbers supplied by the PBX.

2: As on the telephone (default)

16: National, (begins with area code)

32: International (begins with 00)

64: Mobil (begins with +)

DefaultLineToDisplayFmt

Default format displayed for phone numbers supplied by the PBX.

2: As on the telephone (default)

16: National, (begins with area code)

32: International (begins with 00)

64: Mobil (begins with +)

The parameters DefaultPhoneToDisplayFmt and DefaultLineToDisplayFmt are helpful e.g. if you are communicating between locations that have a different dial code (call back, call alert etc.) or if you wish to call employees in the field on their mobile phones. If only the extension is transmitted, it can be difficult to return a call, for example. For this reason you can configure this parameter to transmit the entire phone number.

Hint

As of XPhone Connect V8, the following entry must be inserted in atlas.xml in the <configuration> section: <TelephonyJournal NumberFormat="64"></TelephonyJournal> This entered value must match the value at DefaultPhoneToDisplayFmt. The XPhone Connect Server must then be restarted.

Click Save to accept the selected parameter with the set values or Back to discard the entries. You return to the Add new dialing parameter dialog. You can now add further additional parameters or modify existing ones via Edit.

In the Create new dialing parameter dialog, finally click Save to save all settings. If you click Cancel, you will exit the settings dialog without applying the changes.

You can test and change the different dialling parameter settings with the Special configuration dialling parameters tool. You can find this tool centrally in the XPhone Connect Server Manager.

Delete

You can delete a dialling parameter by highlighting the corresponding entry, clicking Delete in the header and confirm.

Hint

Treat dialling parameters carefully, especially when deleting them. If in doubt, please contact the XPhone Connect product support.
